Recap - #24 Mississippi State 6, Marshall 2, 2/20/15

After going 4-0 opening weekend, Mississippi State built on the momentum, winning game one of this weekend, 6-2.

Preston Brown started on the mound for Mississippi State, having a tough start, but a strong end. In 6 innings, he struck out eight and gave up six hits. He picked up the win in this one, giving him a 2-0 record on the year. Ross Mitchell replaced Brown in relief and had yet another spectacular outing. In 3 innings, Mitchell struck out one, gave up two hits, and forced five groundouts.

Offensively. the Bulldogs had a sluggish start, not scoring through the first 5 innings. Once again, they had to play from behind, trailing 2-0 going to the 6th. After the slow start, the Bulldog bats boomed, putting up six runs in the next 3 innings.

The offensive player of the game for Mississippi State, no doubt, was Jacob Robson. He went 3-5, scored two runs, and stole three bases.
