Recap - #19 Ole Miss 6, #17 Mississippi State 1, 4/11/14

Ross Mitchell got his first Friday night start of the year in front of the 7th largest on campus NCAA baseball crowd ever, but struggled in Mississippi State's 6-1 loss to 19th ranked Ole Miss.

Ross Mitchell was named the Friday night starter for Mississippi State's crucial mid-season series versus Ole Miss. He struck out 5 in 8 2/3 innings pitched, but gave up 13 hits, 2 walks and 6 runs in those 8 2/3 innings. Myles Gentry finished the job and got the last out of the game for the Bulldogs.

For the Bulldog bats, it was another one of those strange nights where we hit well, but couldn't get a run across. Mississippi State accumulated 10 hits in the ballgame, but only put one run on the board. A surprise performer in the game was Matthew Britton who went 2-3 in the game. Britton has struggled throughout the season, and hopefully he can get things back together.

Mississippi State drops to 21-14, 6-7 and will battle the Rebels in game two of the series Saturday at 3:00 on FSN.
