Recap - #24 Mississippi State 9, Missouri 7, 4/20/14

For the second time in the series, it took 11 innings to close a game out, but this time it required a late rally by Mississippi State on their way to a 9-7, extra innings victory over Missouri.

Brandon Woodruff was the starter for the Bulldogs on the Sunday game and he struggled yet again. He struck out two, but gave up five runs 4.1 innings pitched. Myles Gentry replaced Woody on the mound, and he faced only two batters before getting tossed, as he gave up a run. Ben Bracewell replaced Gentry, and he had a great day. He struck out seven and gave up only one run in 6 innings pitched. A good comeback for Benny after a bad Sunday game versus Ole Miss. Jacob Lindgren came in and threw a strikeout to end the game.

The Bulldogs came ready to play offensively. The led Missouri with fifteen hits, and the hot bat was C.T. Bradford. C.T. went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and he scored a run. This included a 2 RBI single that tied the game up at 7 in the bottom of the 9th after trailing 7-5. The Bulldogs were down 7-3 going to the 7th inning. Other hot bats were Brett Pirtle, who hit a solo home run in his first at bat, he went 3-6 with 1 RBI and scored 3 runs, Reid Humphreys who went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored 1 run, Demarcus Henderson who went 2-4 with an RBI and a run, and Seth Heck who went 2-5 with an RBI and a run. It was a big day.

Mississippi State grabs the sweep from the Tigers and improves to 26-15, 10-8. The Bulldogs will be back in action Tuesday in the Governor's Cup game vs Ole Miss in Pearl, Mississippi at 6:35 PM on the MSU Radio Network.
